Bringing Hope to Liberia
SMBA partners to build education in Liberia
Jimmy Gargar, native to Liberia, sold ice water at the age of ten as his mother worked during the day. His mother, like many, worked to provide a home and food. Jimmy, unlike many, worked to pay for elementary school in a country where education is not free. Taking the money from the sold ice water, Jimmy would buy Kerosene and sell that for tuition. Elementary school tuition, that is. Now, many years later, his desire is to see to it that children in Liberia go to school for free. - Click Here to Read Article
Looking for a Way to Give?
Bhutanese Nepalese Refugees are Bhutanese citizens of Nepali origin, who were evicted from Bhutan in the 1980s and early 1990s. Ultimately 107,000 refugees were sheltered in makeshift camps in Jhapa and Morang districts of Nepal. After languishing in the camps with limited rations provided by UN agencies for seventeen years, without the prospects of going back to Bhutan, starting early this year, they have been resettled to Western countries like United States of America, Australia, and New Zealand etc. This coming year there will be hundreds of refugees arriving in the Stone Mountain Area looking for a new home and with hopes of creating new lives. 1st Asian/Caribbean/Pacific Church has been collecting clothes, utensils, blankets and any other household items and distributing them to the refugees. Would you like to help support a refugee family this Christmas? For more information and a list of familes and needs Click Here.
