How to Join
How does my church become a member of the SMBA?
Churches are the Association. The staff is here to serve our churches. Our desire is to resource churches. Membership indicates a commitment to walk with sister churches in this local mission field. We do not insist that churches sing in unison, however, we desire for churches to be in harmony with our faith, order and practices.
Here are the steps to joining our Association:
Step #1: Send a letter addressed to the Membership Team, PO Box 911, Conyers GA 30012, indicating your desire for membership. Enclose with the letter the resume of the Pastor, constitution and bylaws of your church, doctrinal statement of your church and the church budget.
Step #2: Upon receipt of your letter, the Membership Team will conduct an initial review of the information and request an opportunity to conduct a membership orientation at your church. The Pastor, staff, and key lay leadership from your church must attend this orientation meeting.
Step #3: The Membership Team will be looking for signs that the church will be an active member of the Association, share a common commitment to missions, hold to common beliefs (click here for a copy of The Baptist Faith and Message) and give financially to support the work of our Association. It is recommended that each church give a minimum of 3% of undesignated gifts.
Step #4: The Team will make recommendations to the Association at one of its meetings that the church be accepted for membership.
Membership is open to churches in the East Metro Atlanta area.
